The truth is, schools and families are both raising the same children - just in different settings. When they work together, children thrive. But when they drift apart, it creates confusion, mistrust and mixed messages for both the children and family unit. Unfortunately, that divide between home and school seems to have grown wider over the years.

At Our Future Generation, we believe that knowledge, identity and hope are pivotal to forming a generation who are rooted in faith, emotionally whole and intellectually prepared and equipped to lead families, communities and nations toward truth and purpose.

Should schools primarily prepare young people for the workforce? Or should they be places where free thinking, creativity and self-expression are nurtured?

Children learn better when they feel like they’re part of the space, not just passing through it. A well-designed classroom isn’t just about comfort or style. It’s about caring for the environment where the next generation is being shaped.

If we expect teachers to mould, shape and train up our children, where do we expect their reservoirs to be filled from? How can teachers fuel the next generation while they themselves are feeling depleted?

We are not called to raise spiritual children who are clueless about the world they live in. We are called to raise sons and daughters who walk in dominion, who carry both wisdom and wonder, who use the world’s tools for Heaven’s purposes. Let’s stop settling for a version of Christian education that makes students feel like choosing God means giving up everything else.

A lot of teachers feel like they’re no longer respected. Like their work doesn’t matter. There’s so much negativity in the media about schools and education.

To create is to reflect God’s own nature. We are all born with unique gifts, talents and imagination. Our role as parents, teachers and mentors is to help our children discover their gifts, develop them and use them for good.

If we want to future-proof the next generation, we need to change how we approach education from the ground up. Schools must embrace a more holistic philosophy! Academic rigour is important, but it must be balanced with practical skills
